What our members say....

The CBTY (Come Back To You) program has been so much more than a fitness challenge—it has been a journey that has changed the way I see myself and what I’m capable of.

I joined hoping for a little accountability, to form a habit but I walked away with so much more. I gained the knowledge to understand nutrition, train with purpose, make healthier choices, and look at things differently.

The transformation wasn’t just physical—it was mental. There were days when I doubted myself and exercises that felt impossible. But week after week, with the encouragement of the incredible team, I kept showing up. Before I knew it, the things I once struggled with became easier. Watching my strength grow and realising I was capable of so much more.

The team didn’t just coach me- they genuinely believed, even on the days I didn’t believe in myself.  They challenged me, celebrated every win, picked me up and created an environment where I felt supported and encouraged to succeed.  It stopped solely being about the scales and became about becoming stronger, healthier, and more confident.

If you’re wondering whether this is for you trust the process, trust the team, and most importantly, trust yourself. The strongest person you’ll become isn’t just the one you see in the mirror—it’s the one you’ll discover within yourself.

Thank you Becs and team who made this start to my journey just what I needed and it is just the start.

A little over a year ago I was about to turn 65 years old. I had a job where I was sitting alot, had no time for exercise,  lived out of town & getting fatter & more unfit by the year.

I saw a recent photo of myself & I was horrified. Not only was I not happy with the way I looked, I wasn't happy about how I was feeling, heavy, weak, my balance was terrible, struggling to put my socks & shoes on.
This is not how I wanted to be going into my later years. So, I knew I needed to do something about it.
I increased my lunch break from 30 mins to 1 hour & I walked down the road to Edge Fitness & said I need help. I needed a little routine I could do in 45 mins, giving me enough time to get there & back to work.
They gave me a routine that ticked all the boxes I required. One year on & I am so much stronger,  my balance greatly improved, I'm much fitter,  have way more energy & I'm proud to say I'm 21 kgs lighter,  bonus .

You are never too old or too young to start your health and fitness journey. I started a year ago as an old 65 year old and a year later, I'm a much younger 66 year old.

I can't believe it been a year since I joined, thankyou Edge Fitness Waiuku, you helped turn my life around.

I have had a great 6 weeks challenging myself at 51 the changing your lifestyle can be done at any age. I started this program to become fit and health aim to lose weight and toning up at first that was my goal. But over these pasted 6 weeks I without really noticing my force and goals changed, yes i need to lose 30 kgs, but I now beginning to feel more confident, mindset is stronger on want I can achieve, and the biggest is working through my greif of losing my Dad in April. Have a routine coming home from work, going to the gym, coming home getting dinner prep done and I've been sleeping so much better both when working nightshift and on my days off.

I have more energy and me and my husband had a strong bond before, but now we are cooking together and he has loved eating better himself to the point he joining to gym. So over this 6 weeks you and your team Bec has supported, guided, and took the time to listen to me and I can talk you have all been fantastic.

What made me join the edge gym?

I was in a slump stuck in between housework-work and being a full time solo mum of 5, I was wanting something just for me walking around the block just wasn't cutting it , Since starting the gym 8 weeks ago I have noticed a increase in my mood and have noticed the small changes to my body it's not so much about losing weight for me however it's a bonus to watch it slowly slip away I feel I have struggled at times to stay motivated and keep up the momentum  have had some days where Iv cried while sitting in the carpark telling myself I can't do this but still find myself driving there walking in and feeling so much better after working out!. I'm looking forward to seeing future results in my physical and my mental health I was scared and anxious to start this gym journey but if your thinking about joining I say give it a go you'll feel so much better in yourself

When people ask why Nicholas comes to Edge Fitness, the answer is simple: because every workout is an investment in the life he loves.

Nicholas lives with a rare genetic heart condition and has an ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator). There was a time when his future felt uncertain, and returning to sport seemed like an impossible dream. But with the guidance of his medical team, careful monitoring, and plenty of determination, he's been able to get back to doing what he loves most—playing basketball.

The gym has become a huge part of that journey. Strength and conditioning aren't just about building muscle or improving fitness. Every session helps him become stronger, improve his endurance, and prepare his body for the demands of basketball. Just as importantly, training gives him confidence. It reminds him that while he has a heart condition, it doesn't define who he is.

The benefits go far beyond the physical. Training has become an important part of his mental wellbeing too. It gives him routine, helps him manage stress, and allows him to focus on what he can do instead of what he can't. Watching him walk into the gym with purpose, work hard, and leave feeling proud of himself has been incredible.

To anyone thinking about joining Edge Fitness, I'd say this: everyone's journey is different. You don't have to be the strongest or the fittest to start. Whether you're chasing a goal, rebuilding after a setback, or simply looking after your health, every step forward matters.

For Nicholas, the gym isn't just somewhere to exercise—it's a place where he continues to prove to himself that he is stronger than he ever imagined. Every rep, every session, and every game of basketball is a reminder that while he lives with a heart condition, it doesn't stop him from chasing his goals or living life to the fullest.

As his mum, I couldn't be prouder of the young man he's becoming.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Edge Fitness for creating such a welcoming, supportive environment.

My Bodybuilding Journey

My fitness journey didn't start with bodybuilding—it actually started with powerlifting. My goal at the time was to build strength, and while I certainly became stronger, I wasn't seeing the overall results I wanted.

Around the same time, I moved to the small town of Waiuku so I could achieve my dream of becoming a homeowner. One of the first things I needed to find was a gym that felt like home. I joined the local gym, which was later taken over by the team at Edge Fitness, and I've watched it grow into the incredible facility it is today. The improvements they've made over the years, from the equipment to the overall atmosphere, have created a welcoming space for people of all fitness levels.

Like many people, life threw a few challenges my way. Between heartbreak, family responsibilities, work, and everything else that comes with life, I realised I had spent a long time putting everyone else first. I made a conscious decision that it was time to prioritise my own health and wellbeing—not just for me, but so I could be stronger, healthier, and there for my family.

Then one day, someone simply said to me, "Do something about it." Those words stuck with me, and I did exactly that.

I found an amazing bodybuilding coach, committed to the process, and Edge Fitness quickly became my second home. There were early mornings, tough training sessions, strict nutrition, and plenty of moments where I questioned myself. But there was also incredible support, encouragement, and a community that made me want to keep showing up.

In December 2025, I stepped onto a bodybuilding stage for the very first time. I was incredibly nervous and had no idea what to expect, but crossing that stage was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It proved to me that I was capable of far more than I had ever believed.

That first competition wasn't the end of the journey—it was only the beginning. I'm now preparing for two more competitions this October, and I'm excited to see how far I can continue to push myself.

Throughout this entire journey, Edge Fitness has been there every step of the way. The team continually invests in improving the gym, adding new equipment, and creating an environment where everyone—whether you're just starting out or chasing competition goals—feels supported.

For me, bodybuilding has become about so much more than building muscle. It's about building confidence, resilience, discipline, and proving to myself that it's never too late to put yourself first and chase something that once seemed impossible.

I'm proud of how far I've come, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next

Joining Edge Fitness has been one of the best decisions I've made for myself. When I first started, I was nervous and lacked confidence, but from day one I felt welcomed and supported.

Over time, I've become so much more confident—not just in the gym, but in everyday life. I've discovered that exercise is something I genuinely enjoy, and going to the gym has become a part of my routine that I actually look forward to.

The group classes have been a huge part of my journey. They're fun, motivating, and have helped push me beyond what I thought I was capable of. The trainers and the amazing people in the classes create such a positive environment that makes you want to keep coming back.

My journey hasn't just been about getting fitter—it's been about building confidence, feeling stronger both physically and mentally, and becoming part of an incredible community. I'm so grateful to everyone at Edge Fitness for helping me believe in myself and making the gym a place where I truly feel like I belong.

Since starting at edge fitness at 3 months postpartum I've lost 12kgs in 3 months. Ive still got some more to lose to be at my goal but I already feel so much more like myself and I love the person Ive become over the last 3 months. I wake up most days super excited to workout and always finding a way to fit in an extra workout. I already feel stronger physically and mentally. Able to carry both my kids when i need to and run around with my toddler in the backyard easily. So grateful for the creche and the supportive team at edge fitness.

I joined because I wanted to get my fitness back to pre-kids.

I have become a lot fitter.

The classes are great, and I have made a lot of friends through attending them. Personally, I only like doing classes rather than my own workout in the gym.
